MCHA to Honor the 2019 Hospitality Professional of the Year Tony Salameh, Owner of Anton & Michel Restaurant, Carmel.
MONTEREY, Calif. – March 9, 2020 - The Monterey County Hospitality Association is holding its Annual Dinner Celebration and Awards on Friday, March 13th, 2020 at the Inn at Spanish Bay at 6:00PM. Tickets are available for $195.
The evening program will include commendations from Congress, State Senators and Assembly, Supervisors, members and other dignitaries as members of the MCHA recognize an esteemed peer with the prestigious "Hospitality Professional of the Year" Award.
This year's recipient is Tony Salameh, Owner of Anton & Michel Restaurant, Carmel CA.
Mr. Salameh was born on 1951 in Manila, Philippines and was raised since age two in Jerusalem, Jordon where he attended elementary and secondary schools. He graduated from the Hotel School of Lausanne, Switzerland and began his forty-eight-year career in the restaurant and hospitality industry at the Atlas Hotels, Town & Country Hotel in San Diego, CA. He next served as the Resident Manager of Quail Lodge in Carmel, CA. In 1975 he went to work at the Jordon International Hotels in Aqaba & Amman, Jordon and in 1977 he returned to Quail Lodge as the Food and Beverage Director. Mr. Salameh has been the owner of Anton & Michel Restaurant in Carmel since 1980. In 1994 he opened his second restaurant, The Grill on Ocean Avenue which he sold in 2018. In 1996, he opened his third and fourth restaurants, PortaBella & Merlot Bistro which he sold in 2015.
Mr. Salameh has given his expertise and passion of service back to the industry through current membership in the Monterey County Hospitality Association, Monterey Convention & Visitor’s Bureau, Carmel Chamber of Commerce, California Restaurant Association, National Restaurant Association, Les Toques Blanches and was a past member of Chaine des Rotisseurs.
Mr. Salameh has served on the Board of Directors of the Monterey Peninsula Hotel & Restaurant Association (which would become MCHA). He was Director and Vice President on the Board of the Carmel Business Association (currently Carmel Chamber). Director on the Board of the local chapter of the California Restaurant Association and served on the State Board of the California Restaurant Association.
He is married to his wife of forty-two years, Maria and they have two sons, Anton and Stefan, two daughters-in-law Mary-Katherine and Michelle and one grandson, Christian.
