No. If you simply want to recognize an employee, please scroll to Section 4 Hospitality Recognition to submit names for recognition only.  No additional write up is necessary.  However, if you want your employee to be considered for a judged award, please complete the appropriate nomination forms below.

All nominated employees will receive a commemorative pin, recognition in the Monterey Herald and event program.  Should one of your employees be selected as one of the Top Finalists, they will receive numerous plaques, as well as gift certificates to area attractions, restaurants and/or accommodations.

The Special Achievement Award is for hourly supervisors. Judges will put a higher level of expectation on these employees and will honor one individual with a Special Achievement Award.  Guidelines for entry include the following:

Six impartial individuals will meet confidentially to determine the winner. Each judge is selected based on past and current involvement in the hospitality industry. Judges may not nominate individuals for awards. All nominations are reviewed blind. Please note that entries received after September 1st are not guaranteed for submission.

Judges will receive all submissions a week in advance to review individually, and then meet to discuss and vote on finalists in each category. Judges consider many different facets of excellence in the judging process including, but not exclusive to: duration of employment, handling of unique situations, perseverance, consistency in performance, colleague interactions etc. Please click here to review a sample selection of nominations from the MCHA 2023 Finalists.
