This award program is designed to recognize all outstanding individuals working in the hospitality industry who perform beyond expectations. Nomination forms for the “Excellence in Hospitality” award (hourly team associates), “Special Achievement Award” (hourly supervisors) and Hospitality Recognition are below. If additional entries are needed, please feel free to access this page multiple times. Nominations are open to employees of any business that is a current member of MCHA.

All hourly employees are eligible. Please consider all employees, whether individuals have guest contact or support the team in other areas. Salaried employees in management positions are not eligible, nor are employees that are past recipients; however, all current employees can be recognized. Please scroll to Section 4 of this form to submit names for Hospitality Recognition. These individuals will receive a commemorative pin, name in program and acknowledgement in the Monterey Herald.
You may nominate as many employees as you wish. This is a wonderful way to acknowledge your many employees that have made contributions to your business and to the hospitality industry. For multiple entries per company, please access this link multiple times to submit individual forms.
No. If you simply want to recognize an employee, please scroll to Section 4 Hospitality Recognition to submit names for recognition only. No additional write up is necessary. However, if you want your employee to be considered for a judged award, please complete the appropriate nomination forms below.
All nominated employees will receive a commemorative pin, recognition in the Monterey Herald and event program. Should one of your employees be selected as one of the Top Finalists, they will receive numerous plaques, as well as gift certificates to area attractions, restaurants and/or accommodations.
The Excellence in Hospitality Award is for hourly team associates and will be judged on information submitted. Winners will be selected from each category listed below, based on information submitted:
Note: If nominations within a category are not fulfilled, the judges have the authority to use their discretion to pull nominees from other categories as appropriate. Judges also have the authority to divide the above categories (Humanitarian & Community Service Efforts and Heart of the House & Effective Team Player) into separate individual categories as appropriate.
The Special Achievement Award is for hourly supervisors. Judges will put a higher level of expectation on these employees and will honor one individual with a Special Achievement Award. Guidelines for entry include the following:
Six impartial individuals will meet confidentially to determine the winner. Each judge is selected based on past and current involvement in the hospitality industry. Judges may not nominate individuals for awards. All nominations are reviewed blind. Please note that entries received after September 1st are not guaranteed for submission.
Judges will receive all submissions a week in advance to review individually, and then meet to discuss and vote on finalists in each category. Judges consider many different facets of excellence in the judging process including, but not exclusive to: duration of employment, handling of unique situations, perseverance, consistency in performance, colleague interactions etc. Please click here to review a sample selection of nominations from the MCHA 2023 Finalists.
