One of MCHA’s biggest recognition events is the annual Employee Appreciation Day, a gathering that draws hospitality professionals and family members for a fun afternoon. More than 1,000 people participate in this annual celebration at the Monterey County Fair & Event Center.
Hundreds of volunteers donate food, drinks and time for the June festivities, which include friendly bartending, bed-making, napkin-folding, bell staff, seafood chowder, and food and beverage competitions. Employees are invited to enjoy future kayak, golf and Monterey Bay Aquarium outings. Managers from various properties serve a barbeque meal for attendees and their families, as well.
“It’s the line employees who make this industry look good. This is just one way to show our appreciation. The industry has a strong sense of community, and you really feel that when we’re all together. It makes one proud to work in hospitality.”
