Hospitality is not just an industry, but an overall attitude. It is a spirit of good fellowship and stewardship. Now, more than ever, a strong MCHA and all that it stands for is essential for the greater Monterey County as a whole. As we all know, tourism is the lifeblood of the Monterey area. Our industry employs well over 20,000 individuals. Our destination attracts upwards of 8 million visitors annually and almost $2,000,000,000 in total revenue-yes, as in billion!!! This cannot be taken for granted and we must leverage all of the things that make this destination so amazing, starting with our people. We should all be very proud of the roles that we all play and will continue to play in making MCHA stronger than ever!!! We have a strong Leadership Team and we will continue to move forward decisively on all of the issues that are central to hospitality, while hopefully generating new ideas and new strategies. I challenge us all to commit ourselves to engaging with one another as well as to consistently promote MCHA as an organization to all prospective new members. As the new Chair of MCHA I am excited about what 2012 has to offer. Thank you again for all that you do and for your many contributions. Sincerely, John C.
