Government Affairs Committee E-Bulletin MCHA Government Affairs E-News April 14th, 2009 Bob McKenzie, Government Affairs Director
The Monterey County Hospitality Association Board of Directors and Government Affairs Committee could not reach a conclusion on voting recommendations on the six Propositions on the state-wide special election ballot May 19. While the Propositions purport to enact budget reforms they do involve extension of tax increases for two years beyond the tax increases approved by the Legislature and the Governor in February. Sadly, the state budget adopted in February is already out-of-date and
California is faced with serious budget deficits again. Instead of recommending a particular vote we furnish you the attached "quick summary' of those Propositions and urge you all to study the propositions carefully and vote in your best interest.
